The Icynene Spray Foam Insulation is a soft, flexible spray foam insulation product that delivers up to 50% greater energy savings when compared to other home insulation products.
Icynene is a spray-applied insulation system with an open, cellular composition that provides outstanding insulation performance yet still allows the building to breathe naturally.
Icynene expands 100-fold within seconds of application, sealing all gaps, service holes and hard to reach spaces, minimizing air leakage and cold bridging, helping reduce energy bills.
Spray foam insulation can be either open or closed cell in composition. Open cell Icynene Spray Foam is extremely vapour open and will allow moisture vapour to pass freely through it allowing the building to breathe naturally. Icynene open cell foam is also hydrophobic and will not soak up or “wick” water and is suitable when timber is involved, as it allows timbers to breathe. Open cell spray foam is ideal for lofts, underfloor, walls and crawlspaces,
Closed cell foams are much less vapour permeable than open cell and are more rigid, with a harder finish. They resist the passage of liquid water and although not entirely waterproof, will prevent it from passing through a structure for a considerable period of time. Closed cell foams often have a greater thermal resistance than open cell foams and are ideal for industrial, commercial and agricultural applications such as in exposed, metal clad structures, as well as with beam and block type flooring systems used in domestic housing. Closed cell foams are also suitable for cavity wall applications.
Carbon Fifty is a licensed Icynene Spray Foam installer and our sprayers are experienced and fully trained in spray foam insulation installation. Prior to starting the installation, our installation team will check that there is no other work going on in the area to be insulated. They will cover the area leading to and around the part to be insulated with a protective sheet and set up temporary ventilation.
Once the area is prepared for the spray foam insulation, a hose from our specially equipped van will be used by our installers to apply the foam in the target area. Depending on size of the property, work can be completed in less than a day and the area sprayed can be entered as early as 2 hours after completion.
Icynene is the most established and leading brand in the spray foam industry. There is marked difference between Icynene Spray Foam Insulation and other competitors on the market in the UK and Ireland. Icynene Spray Foam has the lowest water absorption and the highest energy savings compared to all the other foam in the market today.
So do not be fooled by competitors when they say their foam is the same as Icynene, as this is simply not true. When choosing spray foam always choose Icynene, there is a difference.
Mould requires moisture, warmth and a food source to grow, Icynene Spray Foam has no nutritional value and so is not a viable food source to promote mould growth. Icynene open cell foam is a breathable product, which allows any moisture present to dry by evaporation when the foam is applied to any surface.
This is important for timber and masonry surfaces, as they need to breathe to ensure no damp or rot problems are caused. However, if there are existing problems in your timbers, such as damp, woodworm or rot, these should treated and dried first.
Icynene insulation provides advanced moisture management by forming an air tight seal to minimises air transported moisture. This helps prevent condensation and resulting potential for mould growth.
Icynene Spray Foam is a safe and environmentally friendly product, as it does not contain any chemical blowing agents, HFCs or harmful chemicals. It is 100% water blown and becomes completely safe after only 2 hours after being sprayed. It has a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 1 and an Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) of 0, making it environmentally friendly
It is hard to get an exact figure on how much it costs to insulate with spray foam, and the reason is that the exact cost depend on a number of factors such as; the total area, depth the foam has to be sprayed, whether it is open cell or closed cell foam type, access and location of the property. We can carry out a free no obligation site survey to give you an accurate quote.
Spray foam insulation may be more expensive than other traditional forms of insulation, but once it’s installed, the cost of the insulation can be recovered from the money saved on your heating bills.
Icynene Open cell product is a soft flexible product and can be easily be modified or removed. The spray foam is not sprayed directly on to the roof tiles, it is sprayed on the membrane and if there is not one present we will install a roof membrane under the pitch roof tiles. This allows roof repairs and alterations to be undertaken as normal.
