About SPRAY FOAM INSULATION
The Icynene Spray Foam Insulation is a market leading soft, flexible spray foam insulation product that delivers up to 50% greater energy savings when compared to other traditional insulation products such as fibreglass.
Spray Foam can be applied to a wide range of areas, including walls, roof, ceilings, loft and crawl spaces to deliver superior insulating and air-sealing results. Once sprayed, the spray foam expands to 100 times its original size and because of this expanding quality it can insulate difficult to reach areas. This allows it to fill all the gaps and allows it to create an air tight seal which helps prevent heat loss.
As well as providing thermal benefits, the risk of condensation and mould is greatly reduced as the air tight seal prevents the mixing of hot and cold air in the insulated space. Carbon Fifty are fully authorised and accredited installers of Icynene Spray Foam Installation and provide a professional and competitively priced service.

There are two types of Icynene Spray Foam Insulation:
Open cell
is more flexible and, because it adheres to the material it is sprayed onto, will tend to move with that material as it expands and contracts. It also allows air and moisture to move through it, giving it an almost ‘breathable’ quality. This is type of foam is most commonly used on residential properties.
Closed cell
is more like conventional rigid foam insulation boards, in that it is rigid once it sets and can offer some structural stability, but it does not allow air or moisture to pass through it More suited to commercial/industrial buildings such as factories, warehouses boats and containers
How is Spray Foam Insulation the modern alternative to traditional
Fiberglass used in Lofts
Spray Foam insulation has become a very popular alternative to traditional Fibreglass insulation due to its greater energy savings and other benefits.
The recommended depth of fiberglass has been increased to 270 mm in the loft, this has meant loss of valuable storage space, due to not being able to fit boards on top of the insulation. As Spray Foam insulation is applied in between the rafters in roofline and external gable walls, you are able to reclaim the loft floor space.
As well as providing thermal benefits, the risk of condensation and mould is greatly reduced as the air tight seal prevents the mixing of hot and cold air in the insulated space
Spray Foam Insulation gives homeowners many more benefits in comparison to Fiberglass insulation.
